FirstAssist is part of the Capita plc, a leading FTSE 100 firm.
1998
FirstAssist was originally formed in March 1998, combining the operations of three specialist companies:
• The Legal Protection Group (LPG)
• International Assistance Services (IAS)
• The CareAssist Group (CAG).
These companies had previously been integrated as part of the merger of Royal & Sun Alliance
in 1996 and had been providing a range of legal expenses products and assistance services since 1977.
1997
The healthcare business of FirstAssist was formed in 1997 under Royal & Sun Alliance and rapidly grew to become one of the market leaders in the provision of health and wellbeing products and services.
2003
Bought out by management in 2003, backed by Barclays Private Equity, FirstAssist Services strengthened its Employee Assistance Programme offering with the acquisition of The Lancaster Group’s business.
2007
In 2007, FirstAssist Services broke away from the FirstAssist Group, which consisted of FirstAssist Services, FirstAssist Insurance Services and FirstAssist Legal Expenses and operates as an independent organisation.
2010 - FirstAssist is acquired by Capita plc
FirstAssist is acquired by the Capita plc, a leading FTSE 100 firm. Capita has been a provider of occupational health services for over 30 years, and with revenues in excess of £100 million, wellbeing and health and medical reporting and screening are now among the fastest growing services offered by the Group.
With considerable financial strength and governance, Capita is committed to growth in the sector and the acquisition adds further depth and breadth of expertise to Capita's existing services for the health and workforce management market.
In June 2010, Capita also acquired Premier Medical Group, a medical assessment and occupational health specialist.
