Psychological Injury

The FirstAssist approach to the management of post accident psychological injury including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) includes:

  • Telephone assessment by an appropriately BACP qualified counsellor employed by FirstAssist
  • Referral for a face to face psychological assessment
  • Provision of initial report, recommendations and a goal orientated rehabilitation action plan
  • Ongoing management of recovery programmes
  • Update and final reports as appropriate

Outcomes

  • 24/7 telephone counselling services
  • Support during a period of ‘watchful waiting’
  • Self help programmes with telephone support and access to our market leading online, interactive health and recovery portal with recovery and health focused programmes including stress management
  • Provision of face to face psychological assessments
  • Psychological treatment programmes including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Signposting to emergency support – A&E/GP

For Each and Every Case, we Provide:

  • Initial assessment
    A telephone assessment by an appropriately qualified clinician
  • Rehabilitation plans
    We will provide a goal orientated rehabilitation action plan with anticipated outcomes, costs and timescales agreed by all stakeholders
  • Dedicated case managers
    All cases are managed from beginning to end by the same case manager managing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ongoing communication
    Our dedicated case manager ensures that all parties are kept up to date with progress throughout the life of the case
